Fake IP Technology

Fake IP is an optimized DNS handling mechanism used to enhance network performance and privacy. Instead of waiting for a real DNS resolution, Tachyon immediately assigns a temporary "Fake IP" to the requesting application.

How It Works

  1. DNS Hijacking: When an application requests an IP for google.com, Tachyon intercepts the query.
  2. Immediate Mapping: Tachyon maps google.com to a reserved IP address (e.g., 198.18.0.12) and returns it instantly.
  3. Traffic Capture: When the application sends data to 198.18.0.12, the Tachyon Engine looks up its internal mapping, identifies the destination as google.com, and routes it according to your Rule System.

Key Benefits

  • Zero Latency: Eliminates the delay caused by DNS lookups before a connection starts.
  • Bypassing DNS Poisoning: Prevents local ISP DNS interference since the actual resolution happens on the remote proxy server.
  • Reduced Resource Usage: The system doesn't need to resolve domains that will eventually be handled by a proxy anyway.

Compatibility Note: Some legacy applications or strictly coded software might have issues with non-standard IP ranges. If a specific app fails to connect, consider adding a PROCESS_NAME/DST_DOMAIN rule with DIRECT policy.
